Nausea is something that happens to me at least twice a week. Growing up, it was not like this but for the past 3 years, I keep having many bouts of nausea and dizziness. You guessed it. It also allowed me to test many remedies and confirm which work and which don’t

Nausea is an uneasy feeling that comes from the gut and is accompanied by the urge to throw up or vomit. Almost every adult has experienced nausea in their lifetime and we all know how terrible it can be depending on its severity

There are many reasons that one suffers from nausea. The most common one for women is pregnancy. Others include oily foods, as a result of chemotherapy, eating something spoilt or new, stress, medications, eating too fast, etc.

Nausea by itself is not a condition but a symptom of a condition, something being wrong, or an altered state. Natural or home remedies are usually the first thing you should reach for before trying any pharmaceutical drug. The best remedies for nausea in my experience are:

Natural remedies that work

mint

The mint family including peppermint and spearmint are known to calm nausea, stomach discomfort, relieve gas, and stop vomiting. Studies have confirmed these properties that calm down the stomach muscles and prevent bile from moving upwards towards the throat.

Simply add a teabag of mint tea or peppermint to a cup of hot water. Allow it to extract and cool for 15 minutes before taking the tea. add a little sugar if you wish but not too much. Do not take it hot

ginger

This is perhaps the most effective remedy for nausea. Ginger is highly effective for digestive issues not just nausea but also stomach aches, diarrhea, gas and bloating, etc.

Its compounds have a direct impact on the nervous and digestive system. Experts and studies show that is it especially effective for pregnancy nausea without known side effects

Simply add take a cool ginger tea without much sugar, add it to soups, or as a candy. Whichever you prefer

doum palm

Doum pam is a type of palm fruit that is mostly available in Asia and Africa. It is rich in vitamins, flavanoids, phenols, and antioxidants. It aids digestion, lowers blood pressure, and reduces nausea.

This is not a popular remedy because it is not commonly available. You will have to find it on Amazon if all of these do not work out for you.

Add about half a cup of hot water to a teaspoon of the palm powder. Allow it to extract and cool before drinking slowly. Do not drink it hot and do not add sugar to it. You can take it as much as you need.

It is a very safe fruit that I remember us eating many of it as children not knowing that it is very effective for nausea. In fact, I used it about a week ago myself. Try it and let me know your experience

lemon

Lemon contains neutralising acids that help relieve nausea , soothe upset stomach, and aid digestion. This is another popular remedy commonly known by pregnant women. You can add lemon juice to water and drink, suck on a lemon, have a lemonade, lemon candy, etc. Whatever you choose.

Limes also work just as well.
